Cycling v/s Running

 

 
Cycling and Running are the two different things as Running comes in the list of High intensity workouts and Cycling is the low to moderate intensity workout. This means while running you have to work more harder for a short period of time and for cycling the workout is slight lower but it will continue for a much longer time so that more and more calories will burn. You can burn extra calories while cycling than running.

 
In general running gives harder impact on muscles and joints while cycling the impact will be much lower. Running burns more calories than cycling for the same time spent on running and cycling but you can ride a bicycle for much more time than you can run as it is a low to moderate intensity workout and you will feel more energetic after doing it. After running you will feel somewhat exhausted.

1. What to do Before and After each Workout :-

 

 
Before each workout you just have to do some warmup exercises as they reduces the risk of injuries and also we can perform more and more after the warmup. As these exercises helps the body to heat up the body and also the muscles so that our performance in the sport or workout will gradually increase. Warm-ups helps the body to get warm for the high intensity workouts and also to reduce the injury risks as you are fully stretched up. It will gradually improves your performance in any sports or workouts.
 
 
 
After each and every workout or sports you just have to do some exercises to cool-down your body as they allow our body to recover from the pre-exercise heart rate and blood pressure. These exercises are as important as the warmup exercises. As they helps to reduces heart rate, blood pressure and also controls our breathing rate. Your overall cardiovascular health improves when you indulge in both the activities and it will never deteriorate till you indulge in these activities.

2. Cardiovascular Health :-

 

 
For Cardiovascular health Cycling and Running both are equally beneficial. It will improve your cardiovascular health from the day you will start indulging in these exercises.
 
 
Cycling and Running, in-fact all aerobic exercises helps your heart to get strengthen as they increases the heart rate and blood pressure which results heart to pump more oxygen to your body. You will feel more active and not just your cardio health but your overall health will gradually increase day by day.
 
 
There is a condition to exercise only 60 minutes or less in a day because in a study it is proved that indulging in high intensity rigorous workouts will give a negative impact on your cardiovascular health. There is a limit of 5 hour a week to involve in high intensity rigorous workouts to stay overall fit and healthy.
 
 

3. Toning Muscles :-

 

 
Both Cycling and Running will be equally beneficial in toning your muscles. Cycling and Running gives your legs and lower body a vigorous workout and you big thighs will be a history (if you have big thighs). You will be getting your thighs, belly fat, glutes, butt ,etc.., toned. If you are able to continue your workout for a long term because these are all long term effects.
 
 
I will suggest you to do some arm exercises also if you are involving in the activities like running because it will also reduce your arm muscles and nobody wants to reduce their arm muscles.
 
 

4. Calorie Burn :-

 

 
Calories burn depends upon the intensity and the length of the time in which the workout is done or your workout depends how much calories you have burnt.
 
 
A person’s age, weight, gender and other factors also determines your own baseline of burning calories. If you do cycling or running uphill then you will be able to burn more and more calories as there is a much more energy consumption. Generally Running burns more calories than Cycling when done for the same time.
 
But you will feel much more exhausted while running. You can do cycling for a much longer time than running as it is a low to moderate intensity workout and also you will not feel exhausted too much so ultimately you will burn more calories in cycling because you are indulging in cycling for a longer time than running.
 
 

5. Weight Loss :-

 

 
For loosing weight you have to keep counts in what you eat as you have to keep an eye on your calorie intake and calories burnt. As running is the high intensity workout so you will burn more calories while running than cycling if you indulge in both the activities for the same amount of time. But if you indulge in cycling for a longer time as you will not feel exhausted than your calories burnt while will be much more.
 
 
So, both of them will be helping you in loosing weight as they both can do wonders in burning your calories if you indulge in them on daily basis and regularly for a longer time.
 
 

6. Personality Development :-

 

 
As you will get a lean and fit body then your confidence levels will also boosts up and you will be more confident. You will also look smarter and your personality will also becomes more attractive. Both cycling and running will be beneficial for personality development. Everyone wants to look great but only some are their who do hard work to achieve what they wants and ultimately they will get benefitted from that.
 
 

7. Sleep :-

 

 
You will get a better quality of sleep when you are indulging in the physical activities. As the exercises increases the time in deep sleep and can help you curing your problems of insomnia (A condition in which you will not able to sleep). You will get better quality sleep or more time for quality sleep and you will never suffer from the condition called as sleep deprivation which is the condition when you do not get the proper good quality of sleep.
 
 
The only advice is that you have to avoid intensive and rigorous activities in the hours before bed time.
 
 
The best time to indulge in all the types of physical activities according to me is in morning.
